Thank you for submitting your work to Spreading the Fire Publishing. We welcome fiction and nonfiction from authors whose voices, genres, or themes are often overlooked by traditional publishing. Please review the guidelines below before uploading your materials.

General Submission Guidelines

We evaluate all submissions based on quality of writing, marketability, genre fit, originality, professionalism, and, when applicable, author platform. Please ensure your materials are polished and formatted according to our standards.

Fiction Submissions

• Novels: 50,000+ words (complete manuscripts only)

• Novellas: 15,000+ words (minimum ~100 formatted pages for print eligibility)

• Any spice level accepted

• Any darkness level accepted

• Include a query letter or cover letter

• Upload your blurb/back-of-the-book text

• Upload the first three chapters (may also include a prologue)

• Upload your full manuscript

• Upload a basic marketing plan

• Upload your author bio (Less than 1000 words)

Nonfiction Submissions

Please upload a Book Proposal including:

• Overview

• Table of Contents (if applicable)

• At least 3 sample chapters

• Target Market & Author Platform

• Basic Marketing Plan

Formatting Requirements (Fiction & Nonfiction)

• Submit in .doc or .docx format

• 12 pt Times New Roman, Aptos, or Calibre

• Chapters in one document, each starting on a new page

• Chapter headings: 20 pt bold or Word Heading 1

• Single‑spaced with 12 pt space between paragraphs

• Scene breaks: ***

• File naming: AuthorName_BookTitle_FileType (Example: Smith_MyBook_Manuscript)
